Behind every dreamy floral setup is hours of planning, prepping, and designing. For Carina and Barrett’s day, I spent three full days prepping flowers, mapping out the designs, and building each piece with care. It’s not always glamorous, but it’s always worth it. It’s been a while since I’ve shared a bit about myself, so here’s a little reintroduction!

Hi, I’m Selena - a floral designer based in Arvada, CO! If you’re currently searching for a florist, I’d love the chance to meet you and hopefully bring a bit of floral magic to your special occasion!

My journey into floral design began after years of working in various aspects of plant care. I grew up surrounded by creativity in a home of artists and always enjoyed painting and illustration growing up. When I discovered I could merge my love for plants with artistic expression, something just clicked. I knew I had found my calling.

I don’t consider myself a traditional florist. Trends don’t drive my work — instead, I focus on creating designs that are whimsical, unstructured, and a little bit wild, like a blooming meadow or an untamed garden. Think witchy, dramatic, flowy, and full of unique seasonal stems. Sustainability is at the heart of my work — I prioritize using locally grown flowers as much as possible. Supporting local growers not only strengthens our farming community, but also keeps us connected to the land and the rhythm of the seasons. Honestly, I’m a bit of a nerd when it comes to flower farming — I love geeking out over different varieties and learning about how each bloom is grown.

I’m a Sagittarius through and through — I love to travel, and yes, I can be a little sassy (okay, maybe a lot). But as much as I enjoy being out in the world, I’m also deeply rooted in the comforts of home. It’s my sanctuary. I love to cook, read, garden, and soak up the Colorado sunshine any chance I get.

Though I’ve called Colorado home for the past 7 years, I’m originally from Florida. My favorite flower tends to change with the seasons, but Magnolias always have a special place in my heart — they remind me of where I came from.

I had an absolute blast attending the agricultural industry party and flower trials at Blooma & Welby last week! Even though I’m deep into the floral and wedding scene now, it was such a thrill to be back at the trials. We started off at the Denver Botanic Garden, wandering through the gorgeous, rain-kissed gardens—pure magic! The next day was all about the trials. Blooma hosted a fantastic party with a flower pot design contest and a raffle, where I won a grilling set! Then, we headed to Welby for the classic flower pot voting to help decide which blooms will take center stage next season. What an eventful and fulfilling week. ✨💕🌼

With a vibrant career spanning over five years in the agriculture industry, I embarked on this journey while working at a garden center in sunny Florida. However, my path took me from the lush landscapes of Florida to the captivating landscapes of Colorado. During this transition, I began specializing in the wholesale world of tropical plants, and eventually expanding my knowledge in Colorado perennials while doing landscaping and interior plant maintenance.

Yet, it was the world of flowers that truly captured my heart. This deep-rooted passion led me to establish my very own venture, Wyld Roots Floral. The name speaks to my wild and passionate connection with nature.

I trace the origins of my love for plants and flowers back to my childhood in Sarasota, Florida, where I was fortunate to live right next door to a garden center. This early exposure to the world of plants ignited a lifelong curiosity and fascination.

With a vibrant career spanning over five years in the agriculture industry, I embarked on this journey while working at a garden center in sunny Florida. However, my path took me from the lush landscapes of Florida to the captivating landscapes of Colorado. During this transition, I began specializing in the wholesale world of tropical plants, and eventually expanding my knowledge in Colorado perennials while doing landscaping and interior plant maintenance.

Yet, it was the world of flowers that truly captured my heart. This deep-rooted passion led me to establish my very own venture, Wyld Roots Floral. The name speaks to my wild and passionate connection with nature.
